The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer was released just about a week ago on April 7th.
Warning: spoilers for what’s shown in the trailer beyond this point.
From what little that has been revealed about the first Star Wars spin off movie, we know that it takes place between Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, and Star Wars: A New Hope, with a thirty year or so gap. We also know that the movie revolves around the Rebellion and the story of how they got the Death Star plans. (Don’t worry, no Bothans died to bring us this information.)
The first scene in the trailer shows Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), who seems to be the central character of the movie. A returning recognizable character is a young Mon Mothma, who seems to be sending Jyn on the mission, which we can assume is to retrieve the Death Star plans.
There’s lots of fan speculation as to who Jyn is, including her potentially being the mother of Rey and Luke’s potential wife, since both Luke and Jyn are members of the Rebellion. Whether or not this is going to end up being the case has yet to be seen. The good news for us fans is that the plot and any other information isn’t going to be kept as much of a secret the way it was for The Force Awakens.
I, for one, am particularly intrigued by Jyn and who she’ll end up being.
